A win is a win is a win....

Bucs Website

...no matter how ugly or boring the journey to achieve it might be.

1-5? Yikes. Oh, and a 3rd Printing!

My boyz appear to be spiralling out of control. They looked like they were going to put up a good fight against the Rams, and then they got bit by the Turnover Bug. Defense did more than enough to keep the offense in it, but....well, it's the Bucs. You know the story.

In more cheerful news, I learned from a trusted spy that The Last World War has quietly gone back for a third printing. My mom can't be buying all of the copies, so somebody must like this book. Yowza!

1952 - 2004

When I was 11, he made me believe a man could fly.

Rest in peace, Mr. Reeve.

Bucs 20 - Saints 17

Bucs Website So it wasn't pretty. So it took two quarterbacks, a GPS and a couple of thousand people pointing the way for the offense to find the endzone. It's a win, baby, and that's all that matters.

In an odd way, it seemed poetic that they should get their first win of the season on the road against the Saints. Those of you who appreciate trivia like this will know that the Bucs' first-ever regular season win as a team came in their second season, on the road against the Saints. 'Twas beautiful then.

Please, God, don't let this season be a mirror of that one, 'kay?

SNW Deadline; Vale and Mist News

Today is the deadline for the eigth annual Star Trek: Strange New Worlds writing contest. If you haven't gotten your stories in for this year's contest, well, then you better start haulin' ass for New York, eh?

On a related note, I just read over on the Psi Phi message boards that Geoffrey Thorne, SNW alumn and contributor to the DS9 anthology Prophecy and Change, is the winner of the latest leg of the The Continuing Adventures of Vale and Mist at Phobos Books' official website. Check out his installment, "Free Men on A Dyson Sphere," as well as the first two chapters (the first was written by Kevin), and maybe even see if you're up to carrying on the challenge!

Congrats, Geoff!

Oh, and hey: Today's the SNW deadline.
