Somebody likes us....

The annual Psi Phi Awards have been posted, and...well...wow! Somebody (or several somebodies) actually thought enough of the scribblings Kevin and I do on occasion not only to nominate something of ours, but enough voters turned out in support and this is what happened:

The A Time to... mini-series was voted the Best Trek Mini-series of last year. Kudos to John Vornholt, Bob Greenberger, David Mack, Keith R.A. Decandido, as well as Kevin and even myself. Yay us!

Also cool was the announcement that Where Time Stands Still was also chosen as Best Trek e-Book for 2004. Considering the competition, that's a sweet compliment, as well. Double yay to me and Kevin!

Congratulations to all of this year's winners. Thanks to everyone who voted for us, and to Jon Wilson, Steve Mollman, and Michael Schuster for doing all of the legwork to make the awards happen.

That was fun!

Kevin and I spent Sunday afternoon at the Paola Free Library as part of its 100th anniversary celebration. Kevin's the one with ties to the town, as he spent fifteen years there working for the local paper. Area author Linda Madl, also in attendance, grew up and went to school there.

But me? I heard they were offering free cookies and punch.

In all seriousness, I had a great time. Meeting Linda and fellow area writer Lee Biggs was fun, and everyone who attended the author talks was very warm and welcoming toward all of us. It was a nice, relaxing Sunday afternoon.

Next stop? DENVER!

More info on the Paola Library Celebration

Finally got some new information regarding the celebration for the 100th anniversary of the Paola Free Library. The Miami County Republic, the local newspaper serving Paola, had this article in their Wednesday edition.

In addition to me and Kevin, local authors Lee Biggs and Linda Madl will also be in attendance. Hopefully they won't feel too bummed about being forced to hang with a couple of low-rent hacks like us.

BREAKDOWNS are upon us.

I was wandering through a local Borders bookstore at lunch time, and what do I find? Fresh copies of Breakdowns, the seventh omnibus of Star Trek: S.C.E. novellas. This one collects installments #25-#28 of the monthly e-Book series, including Home Fires by Kevin and me.

Also there was Una McCormack's Hollow Men, the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novel that serves as a sequel to the supremely awesome episode, "In the Pale Moonlight." I've been looking forward to this one myself.

Enjoy!

Local Author Gathering and Signing in Paola, KS

Okay, there might be two or three of you out there for whom this might be interesting info (Hi, Mom!), but Kevin and I will be among several writers gathering at the Paola Free Library in picturesque Paola, Kansas as part of the celebration commemorating the library's 100th anniversary. It's scheduled for Sunday, April 24th. No idea what the schedule of activities might be just yet, but I'll post the gory details when we get them.

Sharp-eyed readers might recognize the name of the town from a couple of my previous writing efforts. It shows up as "Pao'la," the Klingon prison planet, in In the Name of Honor, and I also use it to name a piece of alien fruit in The Last World War.

I know. Real heart-pounding stuff, that.

Anyway, if you're a KC-based reader and want to hook up with Kevin and me, here's your chance. See you there!

"Voyager Highlights" Article in the New Communicator

Cover for STC #155

Kevin and I have a new article in the latest issue, #155, of the Star Trek Communicator magazine: "Top Twists: Voyager’s Creative Minds Discuss Memorable Forks in the Road Home." Essentially, we picked the brains of the writers and producers to learn what they viewed as the essential "turning points" throughout the run of the series.

Also, Kevin provides an update on the status of the cast and crew of the Starship Exeter fan film series as they move toward the premiere of their second episode, "The Tressaurian Intersection."

If you're not a subscriber, look for the new issue in bookstores any time now!
