Shore Leave Thoughts, and a Book Signing!

Had a blast at the Shore Leave 26 convention this past weekend in Baltimore. Got to hang out with a whole slew of Trek writers, including finally being able to put faces to names I'd only met via the Internet. If you're at all into the Trek fiction published by Pocket Books, this is without a doubt the con for you to attend. I'm already saving my pennies for next year.

For those of you living in the Kansas City area, Kevin and I will be holding a book signing at the Barnes & Noble bookstore located in the Town Center Plaza, 4751 West 117th Street, in Leawood, on Saturday, July 24th starting at 3pm. The store manager has told us they've ordered bunches of copies of Foundations, A Time to Sow, and A Time to Harvest.

Hope to see you there!

Comments:
I just read in today's Kansas City Star about the upcoming signing. This is great. I will defiently be coming. I didn't know you were signing up at KU a couple of months ago until after the fact or I would have went to that signing.

I'm a lurker on the psiphi board and the trek today - trek lit board and I have seen you post numerous times in the past on thoses boards. You are always very nice and funny when posting along with KRAD and others on those boards. The people who post on those boards are all usually very nice which isn't always the case on the internet.

I have both A Time to Sow and A time to Harvest already. I have already finished "Sow" and I hope to finish "Harvest" by Saturday. I also own a copy of Foundations but please forgive me I haven't had a chance to read it yet. :) So many trek books are coming out each month it's hard to keep up and I have fallen behind on the SCE series.

I have really enjoyed both Kevin and your's A Time to books beacuse in my opinion you have really captured the "voices" of the characters correctly. Additionally the characters non verbal actions just feel right along with their dialogue.

I really wish Tales of the Dominion War would be out by Saturday. I know you and Kevin Dilmore have contributed a story in that volume and I wish I could get that signed too. I will defiently be buying a copy of it when it does come out though.

I'm sorry if I've been to long winded. I will see you Saturday.

Jeff Smith

I didn't see the thing in the Star, but I've got Kevin hunting it down. Thanks for the tip, and see you Saturday!

(It'll be nice to see someone there who's not related to Kevin!)
