Assorted book-related stuff.

A bit of housekeeping:

First, Jackie Bundy's review of the Star Trek: Constellations anthology has been posted on Trek Today. Many thanks to Jackie!

Next, I learned from a thread on the TrekBBS that SFX Magazine has released a special issue devoted to Star Trek's 40th anniversary. The magazine comes poly-bagged, and included with each issue is one of 16 different Star Trek novels. I don't have a complete lineup, but here's 14 of the 16:

If anyone can provide the other two titles, I'd appreciate it. The magazine is a UK publication and so is somewhat delayed getting to US bookstores.

(Note: List of books updated 9/24/2006.)

Finally, I discovered during a trip to the nearby Borders that The Last World War has quietly reached its fifth printing. So, uh....go me!

Comments:
Do you pay for the mag and get the book free or is it a jacked up magazine price?

SFX Magazine (and similar UK mags) often has promotional freebies in a polybag. Sometimes folded posters, sometimes large trading cards, sometimes a CD of music - and sometimes paperback books. There have also been a few issues that have included a specially published slim book on TV or movie trivia. Newsstand proprietors must hate them!

As I recall, the Doctor Who special I bought that featured the "free" book was more expensive than the regular issue, but I don't know if that was normal because of the larger page count or not.

I think one of their recent "regular" issues had a trivia book like you're describing. They seemed to do okay with the Doctor Who specials, so I figure the same'll happen with the ST issue.

Here's hoping! I'm always on the hunt for copies of In the Name of Honor, as I like to have them on the table whenever we do cons and such.

Holy Crap!! 5th printing?? That is awesome. I dont understand why you cant do a sequal. It obviously sells.

Obviously one of the three others is Catalyst of Sorrows as someone on the trekbbs said he/she got it with the mag.

Thanks for the heads-up. It's "obvious" if you've been keeping up with the thread, which I haven't.
