Out with the Old New...In with the New New
Okay, the old-style "What's New?" page has officially been retired. In its place, we've got....well, we've got this.
Any hoo...
Added a new page for our forthcoming eighth collaboration for the
S.C.E. series,
Where Time Stands Still. There's no cover art yet, but I've seen it, it looks awesome, and it'll be up just as soon as I get the okay from our editor/poohbah,
Keith DeCandido.
No, really. This time you can count on me.

It's Official
The contracts are signed and executed. The first check has been mailed and cashed. The only thing left for me to do is actually, you know, write the book.
What book, you ask? Well, I'm not really able to say just yet. Why? Because my editor hasn't really said much about it yet, and I don't want to spoil his fun. Hopefully he'll spill the beans one of these days so I can be properly pumped and stuff.
What can I tell you about it? Well, if you liked
The Last World War, you might like this new one, as it's meant to appeal to the same kind of folks. We've got ourselves another bunch of Marines, and they are indeed facing off against some weird, SF-ish creatures right here on good old modern-day Earth. Think
Jurassic Park (though without the dinosaurs) mixed with
Predator and mix in a little bit of
Southern Comfort for flavor, and you have the TV Guide description.
More info when the gag order is lifted...

A Show of Hands...
Okay, where are the
Rush fans?
I've been a Rush convert since early 1989 when my then roommate intro'd me to his own obsession.
A Show of Hands was the CD he was listening to on that fateful day.
Since that time, my wife and I have never missed a concert whenever they come to our neck of the woods. That included last night, with the band's Kansas City stop on their 30th anniversary tour. Three hours of music! Is it me, or do the shows actually get longer with each tour? You have to love a band that can strike a balance between showcasing their newer material, pumping up the crowd with traditional favorites, and then -- just for kicks -- reach back into its backlist of songs and pull out stuff that they haven't played live for twenty years just because they decide it's the cool thing to do.
And hey, if I can muster half the energy that Neil Peart has during that drum solo when I reach his age, that'd be okay, too.

New Reviews!
It was brought to my attention today that a couple of new reviews of our books have popped up.
The
first is for the paperback reprint of the
Foundations trilogy, written by Rachel Hyde for
MyShelf.com. Rachel's written reviews for
In the Name of Honor as well as for
Have Tech, Will Travel and
Miracle Workers.
And then there's another
combined review of
A Time to Sow and
A Time to Harvest has been submitted by Greg Dolnack for
the Storyteller's Archive. I've not visited his site before today, but the man appears to have a healthy variety of reading tastes. Just checking out some of his reviews was enough to make me consider hunting down a few of the books he has listed. Check this one out if you get a chance.
So, is anybody else besides these nice folks and my mom actually reading this stuff?

A New Book...
Started writing the first chapter of a new book today. I'm really not at liberty to provide too many specifics just yet, but I can tell you a couple of things:
- It's not a Star Trek book.
- I'm writing it solo.
- It's science fiction with a military bent, but it's not a sequel to The Last World War.
On that last point, I'm almost done (I swear!) with the outline for the sequel. Honest.
As far as Trek-stuff is concerned, the next thing you'll see from me is the short story I wrote with Kevin, "Field Expediency," for
Tales of the Dominion War, which will debut at the
Shore Leave convention the weekend of July 9-11 in Baltimore. After that, it's our eighth collaboration for the
S.C.E. series,
Where Time Stands Still.
Wow. I think I'm taking to this "Dear Diary" stuff way too easy, don't you?

The First Post
Here we are. My blog.
Just what the world needs: Yet another chapter in the vast book being authored by millions of self-absorbed humans each day.
I can sense your enthusiasm even from here.
Okay, let's give this baby a test drive. This past week saw new reviews of
Grand Designs as well as
A Time to Sow and
A Time to Harvest. Anybody read these yet? If so, what didja think of 'em?
Wow. I feel like a total feedback whore now. Kinda tingly.
